Introduction_to_fashion_illustration_course

Introduction to Fashion Illustration is aimed at complete beginners or those with some drawing experience. In a short amount of time it will take someone from the very foundations of fashion illustration through to an understanding of the various media most useful in this discipline. Excellent for recapping previous drawing skills also. Everyone can learn to draw; they just need the right approach and techniques. We begin with the fashion figure – what does it look like?  How do I get it down on the page quickly and easily? We then progress through faces, the rest of the body, then onto media and rendering technique, and creating your own croquis figures.

This course is excellent for reviving previous drawing skills and taking them further, or for applying skills from a related discipline such as fine art or graphic design, to the art of Fashion Illustration.  Tips and short cuts included!

How_to_draw_faces_workshops_Melbourne

So You Think You Can’t Draw Faces – Truly understanding what you’re drawing has a profound effect on the outcome.  I hear so many people say they can’t draw faces, and see many fashion illustrations where the faces are letting down the standard of the whole drawing. So, I decided to create an intensive workshop which starts with the cranial structure of the head in the manner of fine artists, then takes it all the way to beautiful fashion faces. This has been a very popular workshop each time I have run it, and has had an incredible effect on participants’ drawings. The three key views of the face will be covered, taking the faces from studies to stylized fashion faces.

Fashion Illustration Bootcamp – Part 2  Fashion Illustration Bootcamp has been a very successful and enjoyable workshop, but left people asking me “What’s next?”. Good question! Bootcamp Part 2 was created specifically for this – when you’ve learned the fundamentals of fashion figures and dynamic marker pen technique, what is the next most important and useful thing to learn?  With a focus on textile rendering, this workshop explores mixed media including watercolours and ink, in addition to marker pens and coloured pencils, using these to render specific fabrics and textiles so your images become true fashion representations. You will learn techniques that you can apply to any fabrics and surfaces.

Additionally we will address one of the most-asked questions – How can I draw simple faces on my fashion figures? We will look at faces and stylization and apply them to our figures.
